Diverse Origins, Unified Purpose: Building a Stronger Manhattan Together
At the Manhattan Area Resettlement Team (MART), we envision a world where borders are transcended by unity and understanding. We strive to create a community in Manhattan where every refugee, regardless of their origin, feels welcomed, supported, and empowered to rebuild their lives. Our commitment goes beyond immediate resettlement; we aim to foster lasting connections, ensuring that every individual we serve becomes an integral part of the vibrant tapestry of our community. Together, we are building a future where diversity is celebrated, and every story is a testament to resilience, hope, and the enduring human spirit.
Founded in 2021 by Army veterans Aaron Estabrook and Fatima Jaghoori, MART began as a beacon of hope for Afghan refugees seeking solace in Manhattan. Recognizing a broader global need, by Spring 2023, our mission expanded beyond Afghanistan. Under the leadership of Ana Mendonca, we embraced a new identity as the Manhattan Area Resettlement Team. Today, with the historic Damon Runyon House as our base, we continue our commitment to welcoming and integrating refugees from all corners of the world into the heart of Manhattan.
Since our inception in 2021, MART has been a cornerstone of hope and support in Manhattan. We've proudly welcomed over 200 Afghan allies, providing them with essential resources ranging from housing to employment. Our transition to a broader mission has allowed us to touch the lives of countless others, preparing us to assist refugees from diverse global backgrounds. With the community's unwavering support, we've made significant strides in ensuring every refugee feels at home in Manhattan. Through dedicated services, community integration programs, and continuous advocacy, we're not just resettling individuals; we're reshaping futures.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and fund our mission.
Goal: $200,000 to continue the work we have begun with over 200 Afghans in our community.
We love our community, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
